Creating subdomains

What is a subdomain?

A subdomain is an extension to your domain name such as http://subdomain.yourdomain.com.

Creating a subdomain?

Creating subdomains for your hosting account is a simple procedure.

1. Create the directory for the subdomain to point to.

- If you want the subdomain to have it's own FTP account, you need to create a web_user. To do this you need to login to the Plesk control panel.
- If you don't need an additional FTP account, you can just create a regular directory in your /httpdocs folder using FTP.

You must complete step 1 before going on to step 2.

2. Add subdomain using the subdomain management tool loacted in the Support Centre. Click on "Your Account", then "Hosting accounts" and finally "Manage subdomains".

If you chose not to use a web_user, but a normal directory instead, then for the subdomain images.binasys.co.uk we would do the following:

Please note: You may only use directories directly below httpdocs, ie /httpdocs/images and not /httpdocs/forum/images

If you chose to go the web_user route, then for the subdomain dan.binasys.co.uk and the web_user "dan" we would do the following:
